They might have assumed it was no hotter than they experienced on a summer’s day, so the turtles would be sweet. But it does raise the question of how to replace a turtle with sunstroke…

Did the ancient people wonder how the turtles avoided being incinerated by the sun? Or were there new turtles every day?
